Formed in 1904 we are one of the most established trade associations around today. We have a history of working for the betterment of the membership and the Trades.

Our members benefit from a wide range of services that we can provide. Specialised insurance, pension funds and healthcare plan, discounted legal cost and access to our highly experienced and specialist legal advisers. Plus our experience of negotiating and mediating between disagreeing parties.

Communication, education and national competitions prove our commitment to the membership is as strong as ever.

There is an absolute treasure trove of benefits for you to tap into and reap the rewards of. Membership is open to anyone in the trades, from apprentice to employer, large and small companies alike.

As a full member of the association you are automatically covered with Personal Accident insurance. This insurance covers accidental death and permanent disability. Members also receive a discount from the insurance broker for other insurance covers, please look at the benefits section of this website to the covers available. Many members save in excess of their membership fee from buying the Forge Combined Policy.

Members also have access to the Association Solicitors. Again preferential rates are available for members. The solicitors have considerable specialist experience of acting for the Association members. Please look at the benefits page to see the discounts available to the Association members.

Farriery Apprentices all benefit from having their membership fee paid for by the Farriers Training Service. As part of the apprentices membership the Association offers a free and confidential welfare advice line, detail of which can been seen under apprentice benefits.

The Association organises many competitions and CPD (continuing professional development) events through out the year, many of the branches also hold competitions. At these events members receive a considerably reduced entry fee. As a member of the Association you will be automatically invited to attend the events.
