COMPETITOR INFORMATION
The Farriers (Registration) Act 1976, as amended, is an Act to:
'Prevent and avoid suffering by, and cruely to, horses arising from the shoeing of horses by unskilled persons; to promote the training of farriers and shoeing smiths; to provide for the establishment of a Farriers Registration Council to register persons engaged in farrier and the shoeing of horses; to prohibit the shoeing of horses by unqualified persons; and for the purposes connected therewith.'
The FRC recognises that some farriers from overseas may wish to practice here for short periods of seasonal work, limited experience, competitions etc, and that it may not be practicable or worthwhile for such persons to take the DipWCF in order to do so. The FRC therefore operates a temporary 'licensing' scheme for such individuals.
See the FRC Website for full rules.
