The Farriers Registration Council (FRC)
Regulates farriery in Great Britain.
The mission of the Farriers Registration Council is to maintain and develop the highest standards of equine foot welfare in Great Britain by ensuring that only suitably qualified persons shoe horses, that Farriers maintain and improve their professional standards and that the public are aware of the regulatory processes.

The Farriery Training Agency (FTA) is a managing agency established by The Farriers Registration Council (FRC) to oversee the training of farriery apprentices in the Great Britain. The FTA, does, however welcome applications from potential apprentices worldwide.

EThe Worshipful Company of Farriers has the responsibilty for securing adequate standards of competence and conduct among persons engaged in the shoeing of horses. The Company also actively promotes and encourages the art, science, training and education of farriery.

The Blacksmiths' Craft - Setting the Standard.
Traditional forgework is defined as forgings made of wrought iron or mild steel since wrought iron has become difficult to obtain, using the traditional techniques of hand, hammer, and fire as used from earliest times. The forgings may have domestic or industrial use or be purely decorative. Forgings made by practices which also include more modern techniques and/or the use of other metals with the wrought iron or steel are referred to as contemporary or "of our time".
