Gait analysis for farriers

The Worshipful Company of Farriers and the RVC
Gait analysis for farriers

This half day course is aimed at farriers who would like to gain an insight into gait analysis in horses and how it could be useful for their daily work. An introductory overview of subjective and objective gait analysis, and how they can benefit the farrier, will be followed by practical sessions. These will include demonstrations of a comprehensive range of techniques ranging from expensive, state-of the art solutions such as force platforms and infrared cameras to low-budget, practical techniques that can be used in the field. Practical sessions will also include subjective gait assessment, as performed by a farrier and a veterinary surgeon. For the practical sessions the delegates will be split up into small groups to provide ample opportunity for everybody to get involved. The afternoon will be rounded up by a general discussion and feedback session.
