Apprentices, would you like to spend three days in France?
Apprentices, would you like to spend three days in France?
Apprentices are invited to attend the European Federation of Farriery Associations (EFFA) educational event in Burgundy, France – at Saligny sur Roudon - from March 27 to 29. The three-day event will be a combination of forging competitions, lectures, workshops, dissections, demonstrations and a prizegiving ceremony.
The total number of students allowed is 60, with 20 from each category. Each EFFA country is allowed three candidates, one student for each of the three categories.
Category 1. Anyone who started their apprenticeship in 2014.
Category 2. Anyone who started in 2012/13.
Category 3. Anyone who started in 2010/11.
If the total number of applicants is below 60, other apprentices will be allowed to register on a first come, first served, basis.
Teams of four will be drawn randomly from the names in each category, so apprentices will work with students from other parts of Europe. The cost is 100 Euros, which includes all food and board, although apprentices have to provide their own transport to the event. While there is a competition of sorts, this event is aimed at being formative and practice for future examinations. The competition is not the main issue and apprentices who do not normally compete should not be put off applying.
All applications for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity must be made through the BFBA office.
