WCF Higher Examination Dates

See page 20 of Forge Magazine June 2014 for the whole document

AWCF examinations are normally held Monday to Wednesday, but may have to be adjusted due to increased demand. It may be necessary to hold part of the examinations (usually the written paper) for example, on the Sunday afternoon, or, if there is a large demand, probably on an afternoon a few weeks before the AWCF examination. Every attempt will be made to minimise the time a candidate spends away from home and work, but on occasion some candidates may be required throughout the examination. Any special requests to avoid particular days should be forwarded with the application form.
The next set of Higher Examinations will take place at the Defence Animal Centre on October 5 to 8, 2014. Please note that the written paper is likely to be held at the BFBA Forge, Stoneleigh, on Wednesday, September 17 2014. This set of exams is likely to be fully subscribed and early booking is strongly recommended. Applications must be received as soon as possible and at the latest by Friday, August 1 2014. The list will close once maximum capacity is reached and a waiting list will be in operation.
The following set of Higher Examinations will take place at the Defence Animal Centre on April 16 to 20, 2015. Again, please note that the written paper is likely to be held at the BFBA Forge, Stoneleigh, on Sunday, March 22 2015. This set of exams is likely to be fully subscribed and early booking is strongly recommended. Applications must be received by Friday, January 30 2015. The list will close once maximum capacity is reached and a waiting list will be in operation.
The latest dates will be published online on the WCF website, together with the latest programme for the examinations. Candidates should check for updates regularly.

FWCF Examination Changes
The Court of the WCF has recently approved some changes to the Fellowship Examination, which take place with immediate effect.
All candidates will be required to make a 20-minute presentation on their thesis at the time of examination and should bring with them such specimens, diagrams, charts or other visual aids that will help to illustrate the subject matter. Powerpoint or similar may be used. No additional preparation time is allowed in the programme before this presentation.
In addition to the 20-minute formal presentation on their thesis, the candidate will be given a subject selected by the examiners on any area of farriery. The candidate will be allocated a room in which to prepare a 20-minute lecture on the given subject using whatever delivery method they are comfortable with. PowerPoint, whiteboards, or other readily available visual aids may be used. The preparation time allowed will be one hour.
The Thesis, once approved, remains valid for three years, and a candidate is expected to make every reasonable effort to attain the Fellowship within that period, but only three attempts at the FWCF are allowed in that three-year period.
Full details can be found on the website www.wcf.org.uk.
