e-hoof being launched this month

See page 33 of Forge Magazine April 2014 for the whole document

e-hoof.com is a 'state of the art, interactive website dedicated to the hoof and the horse, and described as 'the essential educational tool for farriers and equine vets'. It has been developed by the University of Zurich and the Swiss Metal Union with the help of farriers and vets across Europe; BFBA has been involved with the project since its inception. It was launched at the National Equine Forum in London on March 6 and will be available online from April.
The information is divided into topics and chapters and accompanied by a wide range of multimedia tools. It is aimed at students - as a teaching aid - and as a source of reference for established professionals wishing to develop their knowledge. e-hoof features 100 chapters divided into four main themes (hippology, anatomy, horseshoeing and disorders of the hoof); 3000 pictures and 50 interactive figures; 200 educational videos; a comprehensive atlas of anatomy with 3D models of the distal limb and hoof; a glossary in eight languages with over 1000 terms relating to the horse, the hoof and horseshoeing, and more.
Five years in planning and development, the content has been written and reviewed by specialists in their fields. The vision behind e-hoof was the wish to create a joint platform of knowledge for two equine professions - farriery and veterinary medicine - offering a shared source of information to help build mutual respect, dialogue and cooperation between the professions. Subscriptions are available on an individual basis as well as for colleges and groups; for more information log on to
