Apprentice farrier benefits from Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society Education and Development Grants
Apprentice farrier Jake Elliott from Barnby Moor, Retford, was presented with an education and development grant at the Newark and Nottinghamshire County Show (12th & 13th May).
Jake received his award of £750 from Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society President Mich Stevenson OBE DL. Jake applied for a grant towards the cost of taking part in a farriers’ competition in Canada.
Now in its sixth year, the Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society education and development grant scheme was set up to assist young people aged between 16 and 30 years of age. Funding is provided to help with career development and/or training for qualifications in agriculture and other land-based related industries. It is a requirement that the subsequent place of work is within Nottinghamshire.
Applications for grants are submitted in writing, with shortlisted students applying for more than £500 undergoing an interview prior to gaining approval for their requested funds.
